Chiricahua National Monument

I moved to Arizona about 1970 and came to a town called Sunsites south of Wilcox. It is also about 50 miles from the Chiricahua National Monument so it was a close point of interest. Fely, Sam and I have visited it twice once in June of 2003 when Sam was only six and again in May of 2011 when she was 13.
This formation is called Cochise's Head after the leader of the Chiricahua Apaches that lived in the valley to the west.
If I recall correctly I took this through one of the public telescopes.
This was a natural arch on a side trail.
The lovers.
I don't know what this was called but it made me think of Star Wars.
We camped in the public campground in the park.
Duck Rock.
Punch & Judy.
The Old Woman. The hike to the Wonderland of Rocks is 8 miles and Sam made it but she was getting tired the last couple of miles.
The Photos below are from 2011.
We managed to the the same campsite in the campground.
The Sea Captain.
Cochise's Head from a different location.
It is a beautiful trail.
More spires.
Not all the balanced rocks are in the wonderland portion of the trail.
At about the half-way point of the trail a hiker gets to the Wonderland of Rocks where the greatest consentration of formations are found.
Kissing Rocks
The hikers at Punch & Judy
I thought these looked like dinosaurs.
Looking North, one sees Dos Cabezas (two heads) above a small town of the same name.
I don't remember.
This one was a face.
The photographer.
Looks like a toad.
